Mangaluru, Sep 25: “Academic excellence should not be the only goal of educational institutions. There is a need to teach students ethical values and hence value based education plays an important role. It transforms students into becoming good citizens,” said Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza
Speaking after inaugurating Milagres CBSE School at Milagres convention hall on September 25, he said that there was a demand from the parents to introduce CBSE syllabus at Milagres. Hence, the school decided to switch over to the CBSE syllabus. This marks another major milestone in the history of the institution, he said.
District-in-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai praised the catholic community for their social service and for starting quality institutions that decreased illiteracy in society. “Most of the educational institutions have been started by the Catholic community and they have rendered great service to the society. They are known for giving qualitative education. Milagres School has a rich history and is known be one of the institutions that never compromise with quality,” he said.
“Milagres educational institution is one of the pioneers of education in Dakshina Kannada district. Thousands of students who got education from Milagres are now shining in various fields at state, national and international levels. Milagres is famous for its teachers and teaching methods. This is the main reason that parents are showing interest to send their children to this school,” said State Minister of Food and Public Distribution UT Khader.
MLA JR Lobo spoke on the importance of parents actively involving in their child’s life. “Students spend majority if their time with their parents and family members. Parents should become good role models and influence their children to become constructive citizens,” he said.
Corporator Vinay Raj, Catholic Board of Education (CBE) secretary Fr Gerald D’Souza, Little Rock Indian School Director Professor Mathew Ninan, Milagres School Manager Fr Valerian D'Souza, Milagres School Administrator Fr Michael Santumayor among others were present.
