Karkala: SSLC student commits suicide, stress in studies suspected

Karkala, Sep 21: A student hanged herself and committed suicide at her residence.

The deceased has been identified as Pratiksha, a resident of Borgalgudde in Karkala. She was pursuing SSLC at a private school here.

Stress in studies is being suspected as the reason for the alleged suicide.

A case has been registered at Karkala rural police station.

    So sad a young life is no more.Stress in studies can be quite possible.In India school system should be completely revised.I feel small children are forced to study a lot .Better childrens age to go school should be higher ,because small age cant absorb that much.They should be mentally fit for it.Here a test will be made to see if a child is able to start first class.If not it will be organized to a different school where he can without stress study. later if he is fit to study can change.second even for a kinder garten in India I heard they demand some test like knowing alphabet and maths.Horrible.otherside parents too expect from a child to be first ,or with extra tution make them fit for exam.Poor child is from all sides pressed to be a best in musik,sports,exams,and other activites.Whether this girl was also expected to come first ?or what hasgone wrong?Heartfelt sympathy to the parents.May her innocent soul rest in peace with angels.

    Now the education system is only exam oriented.

    They are insisting students to get distinction and ranks to get their credit at the efforts of poor students. They insist students to study themselves without assisting for preparation of their notes or for moral science. Most of the students are studying in Tuition classes.

    In colleges we can call the teachers as 'guides' not as teachers. The management is greedy of money and the students strength in each class is more than 70 so teachers cannot render individual attention on students.

    There should be 'one india' education system and all subjects should be available in online so that they can review the lesson in the library or at home what they have studied in the class. All private tutorials should be banned to restrict the partiality between poor and rich students and also to improve the quality of teachers in schools/colleges.

They are insisting students to get distinction and ranks to get their credit at the efforts of poor students. They insist students to study themselves without assisting for preparation of their notes or for moral science. Most of the students are studying in Tuition classes.

    suicide cases like these are on the increase. It is expedient that counselling centres are installed at schools and colleges.

    We seriously need changes in education system.
    Too much pressure on students now a days, it is really surprising,
    during our school times, Teachers were giving notes & we used to write down.
    Now a days, Teachers come to class just to explain few things, and Students has
    to prepare notes themselves.
    Some Teachers even borrow notes from Brilliant Students for their reference for
    teaching other classes.

    Really system has to be changed.

    I suggest there should be a Subject how to choose carrier, how to live in society & how to face life to survive.

    You are right we need more lessons on living life and opportunities in life. Mobile and social media have created the virtual world which connects everyrone under one roof. But the reality is people are note connected to their own people. The parents and children dont have time to share things and dont have time to listen. So what you see in media or social media is true for most of the children. Olden days children had tough times at home and used to do all the house work which indeed taught them survival tactics in difficulty. Nowdays that trend is gone.
