Puttur: St Philomena College celebrates Hindi Day

Puttur, Sep 19: Department of Hindi of St Philomena College, here, on Saturday, September 16, observed Hindi Day in the college auditorium.

Former head of department of Hindi, prof Vishnu Bhat was the chief guest. After releasing Hindi Sabha, he said, "Hindi is the native language of a majority of people across the globe. On September 14, 1949, Hindi was adopted as the official language of India. Mahatma Gandhi used Hindi to unite India and hence the language is also known as the language of unity.”

Campus director Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro inaugurated the programme and delivered the presidential address.

On the occasion, prize winners of various Hindi competitions were honoured. Students presented various cultural events.

Faculty of the department, Gopalakrishna Dongre, Maria Priyadarshini and Dimple Fernandes coordinated the programme.

Anuradha Bharadwaj and team presented the prayer song. Spandan S Rai welcomed the gathering. Sujna proposed the vote of thanks. Fathima Faiza compered the programme.
