Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (UM)

Udupi, Sep 18: A jeweller was robbed of over 4 kg of gold by armed robbers in a train at Suratkal near Mangaluru on Monday September 18.

The jeweller, identified as Rajendra Singh, has filed a complaint in Padubidri police station here.

As per the complaint, Singh, a native of Rajasthal who is working for a jewellery company based in Mumbai was travelling by Netravati Express train from Thirvunanthapuram in Kerala to Panvel near Mumbai. When the train reached Suratkal station, four armed men got into the train and robbed Singh of his gold.

The robbers brandished a pistol and a knife at Singh, and also caused him minor injuries. They then escaped before the train resumed its onward journey. They robbed him of gold bangles weighing 4.11 kg, which he had kept in a suitcase.

Singh then got down at the next stop, Padubidri and filed a complaint with the police.

The robbers spoke Hindi and it is suspected that they had prior information about Singh's movements.

The police have formed three teams, headed by Karkala ASP Rishikesh Sonawane to trace the robbers.

A case has been registered in Padubidri police station.

This might be the same gold got from the Gulf without paying any duty, the handlers might have got it into Kerala by hiding it in their bodies or in a different form.

Prime Minister railway ministry is already seen three reshuffles. When the whole mass media is giving free coverage to the 'bullet train', Indian has witnessed 9 th derailment on the same day in 27 days.

When trains can't reach the destination safely and passenger won't feel safe, what is the point of 'bullet train' of worth Rs1,50,000 crores for 50 years loan?

Why the railways can't make investment in technology instead of rolling new trains each year?
Do BJP knew what is the priorities?
