Mangaluru Sep 16: "Mangaluru Chalo rally was a complete failure by BJP as they could not live up to their expectations of having over 50,000 representatives join them," said District Congress president Harish Kumar.
Addressing media here on Saturday September 16, he said, "Mangaluru Chalo was organised demanding the resignation of district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai who is one of the responsible minister who always called for peace in the district. BJP is known violate rules and take law into their hands, despite section 144, disrupting peace and harmony in the district".
Withdrawal of electronic voting machine
Harish Kumar also urged the withdrawal of electronic voting machine and urged the use of ballot paper for the forthcoming elections. "We will write a letter to the election commission demanding the same. Some experts say that electronic machine can be manipulated. Hence, it is better to have ballot paper for elections. We are confident that Congress will come back to power and the schemes introduced by Siddaramaiah-led state government will be a trump card in forthcoming elections."
Block Congress committee formed
Harish Kumar also said, "The formation of the district booth committees is under process. It will be completed in a week. So far, out of 1766 booths, 1722 booths have committees. The44 are pending will be completed in a week. Congress has lined up several activities to strengthen the party in the district ahead of elections. On September 22, a Congress meeting will be held involving MCC, zilla panchayath, taluk panchayath and municipality members, in the presence of AICC general secretary Vishnunath. On the same day, an Ullal constituency convention will be held. On September 23, Surathkal and Bantwal constituency convention, and on September 25 Belthangady and Mangaluru South constituency convention will be held.
"On September 23, 'Mane Manege Congress' campaign will be inaugurated where party representatives in each block will be visiting homes and distributing booklets on the achievement of Congress and the failures of central government which has caused a high percentage of GST, hike in petrol, diesel and gas."
Congress members Saleem, Dinesh, Santhosh Shetty, Valerian Sequeira and others were present.
