Bengaluru, Sep 13: A high-level Empowered Committee for development of Ring Roads around 25 cities in mainly district headquarters under the Town Planning Scheme was constituted by the State Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday.
An outlay of Rs 275 crore is earmarked for taking up a study, survey and detailed project report to build the Ring Roads.
The committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development Department has been given a time frame of five years to complete the task, said Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra on Wednesday.
A proposal to bring all urban local bodies under one uniform law was also approved and the State Cabinet has requested the National Law School of India University to study the present Karnataka Municipal Act 1964 and Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act 1974 to draft a uniform Act for all urban local bodies, Jayachandra said.
The State Cabinet has approved grant of Rs 25 crore for repairs, renovation of the existing building and construction of new buildings and for providing other facilities to Karnataka Arts, Science and Commerce College, Dharwad. The college, in view of the centenary celebrations.
It also approved the Karnataka Forest Department Services (Recruitment of Meritorious Sport persons in the category of Deputy Range Forest Officers, Forest Watchers) Special Rules, 2017, for recruiting national and international sport persons for C and D category groups.
The Forest Department has decided to fill 125 posts under the sport category.
At present 54 vacancies existed under the category, Jayachandra said.
