Udupi: Crackdown on drug users in Manipal, many students booked

Udupi, Sep 13: Police in Manipal have begun a big crackdown on drug abuse in and around the town. They have booked cases against at least 5 students and a physiotherapy intern from Malaysia. Exact number of students is yet to be known. 

The crackdown began on Wednesday, September 13 and will continue, police said.

There were many complaints of students using drugs in town.


SP Sanjeev Patil

Superintendent of police (SP) Sanjeev Patil confirmed about the action by police and said more details will be provided later.

    I am not a smoker...
    But I learn...
    Pure ganja (Marijuana) if taken on a controlled basis is best to control cancer and aging disorders...
    Abusing a substance by mixing and modifying to enhance intoxication is bad...
    Government must decontrol and allow Marijuana to be grown for self consumption...

    If the adults while in childhood are given protein rich food & are shown affection by their parents then they would not take drugs later-on in their life. There are different sources of proteins and some come with gas as by product. In my opinion pork is the best source of protein & I would suggest more people to get into pig farming. I have seen many pork vendors sell pork with more than 50% of fat and I would suggest people to remove fat as much as possible. Fat makes people obese & lazy. People, farm & eat good source of protein and exercise which would make your family healthy & happy.

    It is good to see that Mr. Sanjiv Patil has taken up his job seriously and indeed has developed an action oriented plan. Mr. Patil had done an excellent job in Mangalore as the D.C.P. and had spared no one indulging in any kind of crime. His going away was a loss to Mangalore but now he is a great asset to Udupi.

    Finally,,At last....!! This crackdown on drug users should have been carried out long long back..So many lives would have been saved..!! Anyway, Good step..Congrats Police Dept..Please be serious about it..Don't bow down under pressure..

    Drugs are highly harmful to health and are illegal in almost all the civilized countries of the world. Cigarettes and tobacco products though injurious to health have been accepted by civilized society. Wine or liquor if taken as a medicine or in medically prescribed quantities is beneficial to health, especially for those having constipation and digestive problems.

    All students get into these fun activities during college. It is not a big deal.
    I can relate the fate of beef consumers hit by cow rakshaks with these students booked by police for using weed!
    Consumption of beef in private and smoking weed in private ... both are fundamental rights of Indians!!
