Mangaluru, Sep 13: An unscientific proposal to include Gurpur revenue division under Moodbidri taluk has been made to the state government. After a delegation met the chief minister and urged him to intervene in the matter, he instructed his secretary to stop the process in this connection forthwith.
A delegation led by MLA, Mohiuddin Bava, had met the chief minister on Tuesday and urged him to retain Gurpur revenue division within this taluk.The chief minister told the delegation that he has asked his secretary to do the needful.
It is learnt that officials had prepared a proposal to add Gurpur revenue division in the taluk to Moodbidri taluk. After 26 villages of the revenue division expressed their opposition to the proposal, the delegation impressed upon the chief minister to stop the process.
The MLA was accompanied in the delegation by Gurpur block Congress president, Surendra B Kambali, former zilla panchayat member, Mellvyn D'Souza, taluk panchayat member, Abdul Samad, president of Gurpur Cooperative Bank, Vinay and some others.
