Mangaluru, Sep 12: Lourdes Central School, on Tuesday, September 5, celebrated Teachers Day in the school open ground.
The programme started with a prayer song by the school choir, followed by an innovative inauguration where the school manager Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza, principal Fr Robert D'Souza, vice principal Belita Mascarenhas, Deepa, and two students offered flowers to a portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
A student then gave the audience which included both, the teachers and the students, a peek into the life of Dr Radhakrishnan through speech.
This was followed by a speech by the principal who spoke about the significance of Teachers Day. A cultural programme followed, which included a Bharatanatyam performance. A comedy skit by students of class VII, and a song thanking the teachers by students of class XI and XII were performed. Games were conducted for teachers and prizes were distributed to winners.
After the formal celebrations, students and teachers left for their respective classrooms where the celebrations continued. They sang songs, danced, and played games. Games between teachers and students commenced. Teachers won the throwball match. The cricket match wrapped up with a tie.
After students were let off later in the day, Teachers Day was celebrated with the school management committee. School manager, principal, vice principal, the Church vice president, and secretary were the dignitaries. The programme was hosted by Ivan Mascarenhas who initiated the programme with a prayer song. The school manager and principal delivered their speeches and gave away tokens of gratitude to staff members. After the formal programme, principal conducted games for the staff members and prizes were distributed. Food was served after the games concluded. The programme wrapped up with a Baila dance.
