Doha, Sep 13: Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), Doha Qatar completes remarkable 9 years and steps into the 10th year. This decennial year 2017 -2018 will be celebrated significantly, the inaugural of which will be held on 15 September at the ICC’s Ashoka Hall at 6:30 pm during MCA’s Monti fest celebrations.
Mangalore Cultural Association was instituted on March 27 in 2008, by some eminent Mangalureans residing in Qatar with a goal set to organize quality programmes in Qatar which would set a platform to talented Mangalurean Konkani artists – singers, dramatist, dancers, writers, poets and all who contribute to beautify our Konkani stage with their talents. With successful staging of these events MCA’s prominent purpose was to lend a helping hand to the underprivileged, poorest of poor in our home town and also for the deprived Mangalureans in Qatar. All these past 9 years MCA has stood up to the objective, and to every members satisfaction, has kept up to the commitment that was made on the 27 March 2008.
MCA - New Committee
Mangalureans in Qatar have seen many first of its kind events under the banner of MCA. The first Konkani drama in Qatar performed by artists from Mumbai and Dubai ‘Matharo Charbela’, Grand Finale of International Singing reality show GVOM-3 involving 6 countries, introducing of MCA Kala / Seva Puruskar where a Konkani dramatists or writers or activists would be invited to Qatar and presented this award which consists of Rs. 100,000, Winners of GVOM’s 4 seasons on one stage with the Rebimbus family. This decennial year is also planned to showcase Mangalurean talents in every field.
The inaugural of the decennial programme will be on this Friday 15 September 2017, at 6.00 pm at the ICC’s Ashoka Hall during the MCA’s Monti Fest celebrations. This day will be special for MCA hence the Executive committee has planned few splendid performances from the upcoming and famed Mangalurean singers and actors residing in Qatar. There will be comedy skits, action songs, spot games and the highlight of the evening will be a Sangeeth Natak ‘Hazar Umalyanche Kazaar’ penned by Konkan Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus, which will revive our memories about our old traditional Konkani Wedding.

Home cooked ‘Novem Jevann’ with traditional ‘Ros’ will be served at the event.
MCA newly formed Executive Committee and Advisory Committee invite all Konkani speaking people residing in Qatar for the ‘MCA’s Monti Fest Celebration’ this Friday to be a part of this traditional feast and the Inaugural of a new chapter in the book of MCA’s achievements.
