Mangaluru, Sep 8: Five students trained at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru, have successfully cleared the final stage of national level NTSE 2016-2017 examination.
Ankush, Aneesh, Samarth M, Anushka Irodi and Sheryas are the five students. The students have proven their caliber and brought glory to Mangaluru by being amongst the only 66 selected students from Karnataka. A total of 922 students (General category–777, SC-114, ST-31 ) have been selected this year from the country at the nationwide competitive examination conducted by the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) an institution, working in the direction of nation building.
Success in the NTSE examination is a great achievement. NTSE examinations test analytical and logical skills. A good understanding of the subject is needed and rote learning or memorization will not yield results.
CFAL has been training students for the exam since 2009 and since then, there have been 30 NTS scholars from CFAL.
The selection process for NTSE is in two stages - First, State Level and then National Level. This year, as many as 81,489 students had appeared for the State Level (Stage 1) exam. Department of State Education and Research Training (DSERT) had selected 224 students (0.274%) among them. Of these 224 only 66 students were selected for the scholarship.
They will be eligible for a scholarship of Rs 15,000 per annum for 1st and 2nd PUC/XI and XII Std, and Rs 24,000 pa for under-graduation& post-graduation studies and later according to the UGC rules until they finish their Phd. NTSE scheme covers areas like sciences, social sciences, engineering, medicine, management and law.
NTSE is a flagship activity of NCERT in the direction of nation building for identifying and assisting around 1000 most talented students studying in X standard from all over India, year after year and nurturing them through generous scholarships and opportunities.
