Mangaluru Sep 6: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary condemned the cold-blooded murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh and demanded CBI probe into the case.
He also said that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai should apologise for his mistakes.
Addressing media here on Wednesday September 6, Janardhana Poojary said, “Gauri Lankesh was gunned down by three miscreants when she reached her residence from work. The crime was committed by a sharp shooter and by looking at the murder, it can be said that the murder was planned properly in a professional manner. I condemn this brutal murder,”
“Soon after the murder, chief minister Siddaramaiah called a press conference and said he did not know the reason behind the murder in spite of police and intelligence departments are working under him. It is better that the case is handed over to CBI. This incident has brought back the memories of the murders of Kannada writer Kalaburagi in Dharwad, and rationalist Narendra Dabholkar in Pune. Is this not a political murder?” questioned Poojary.
Mangaluru Chalo
“The motive behind the Mangaluru Chalo is the resignation of Ramanath Rai. Being a minister, Ramanath Rai has never shown his responsibility. He needs to apologise for his mistakes. Then people will definitely forgive him. But instead Ramanath Rai has shown his arrogance,” Poojary opined speaking about the ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ rally.
“When Mangaluru is in bad state relating to peace, BJP should not take law into their hands,” he said.
When asked about Congress’ unity march on September 12, Poojary said,” I always support unity march no matter who organizes it. If my health was good, I would also have joined the unity march. PFI and BJP have been excluded from the unity march just because of fear of violence.”
When asked about Supreme Court order on CBI probe into DySP Ganapati case, Poojary said,” BJP state president Yeddyurappa is demanding the resignation of minister K J George and what is wrong in it? It is good that CBI will investigate the case. If someone is right, then there is no need to get worried?”
Congress leaders Karunakar Shetty, Vijay Kumar Shetty and Ajith were present.
