Mangaluru, Sep 5: Billava Sangha Kuwait, in association with Shree Guru Charitable Trust, Surathkal, on Sunday, August 20, held the Education Programme - scholarship distribution and motivation programme at Shri Vishwanatha Kalyana Mantapa, Shri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli, here.
Billava Sangha Kuwait are into the second year of the Education Programme for the less privileged deserving students of the community.
Raghu Poojary, president of Billava Sangha Kuwait inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. A welcome dance was performed by Kumari Adhithi Dambel and Rithesh Krishnapura.
Honourable guests Pithamber Heraje, retired SP, vice president of Billava Maha Mandala, Adve Ravindra Poojary, award winner state level model teacher and administrator of Sri Narayana Guru Group of Educational Institutions, Mulki, and Chandrasekhar Nanil, president of Shree Guru Charitable Trust graced the occasion.
Other guests Ranjan Mulki, H K Ravindra and Vasu Poojary along with Satish Kunder advisor and Shanmukha Poojary, internal auditor of Billava Sangha Kuwait were also present on the dais.
Raghu Poojary, president of Billava Sangha Kuwait presided over the function. Prathibha Kulai delivered a motivational speech and held an interactive session with the students, lifting their spirits. Rohith Sanil, advisor of Billava Sangha Kuwait welcomed the distinguished guests and gathering.
Satish Kunder, on behalf of the Billava Sangha Kuwait, gave insights of the activities of Billava Sangha Kuwait and presented how the motivated members of BSK worked hard to take this Education Programme to second year with more vigour and commitment. He also commended the work done by Shree Guru Charitable Trust in making the programme meaningful. He stressed the need of imparting discipline in the students along with education so that misuse of youth could be stopped and the next generation would be able to take up leadership of the community with strong and disciplined leadership qualities.
Pithambera Heraje in his speech called all the community members to work towards strengthening the community and the need to develop institutions on their own, including medical college. He was pained about the misguided youth who have taken the wrong path and being misused in politics and religion. This has irreparable impact on many families and needs to be stopped with proper education, he said. He also thanked Billava Sangha Kuwait for taking up the noble cause.
Sri Adve Ravindra Poojary motivated the students with his speech and inspired students to work for the country in the progress and eradicating the ills like corruption. He compared that students to a pencil which needs to be sharpened often and can pen down great things when used by great hands. Likewise children can become great when they are trained under such hands.
Chandrasekhar Nanil, president of Shree Guru Charitable Trust stated the importance of the association with Billava Sangha Kuwait in the success of the programme and wished that the bonding between the two associations remains for ever, for taking the cause forward. He also informed how the members of the trust worked hard in identifying the deserving students and organising the programme.
Jayanada, vice president of Sri Guru Charitable Trust in his emotional speech explained how some of the less privileged students with all hardships and even without proper place to live have excelled in their studies. He also gave the details of the work by the trust. Sri Raghu Poojary, president of Billava Sangha Kuwait also spoke on the occasion and thanked Sri Guru Charitable Trust for making the education programme a reality with extensive survey work. Some of the students also spoke thanking BSK and the trust for the assistance they got for their education.
Scholarships worth Rs 6,10,000/- were distributed among 100 less privileged deserving students pursuing post graduation, engineering, diploma, law, degree, pre-university and trade courses. Scholarships were distributed by the guests in the dias and Rohith Sanil, Gautham Suvarna, Manjo Anchan, Vijay Kavoor, Rashmi Nagaraj, Manjo Bangera, Praveen Kotian Kodakkal, Vivek Rao and others.
Jyothi Bangera who have been attending this programme as the audience from last year, impressed with the programme presented the additional scholarship to one of the physically challenged student thus raising the emotions high.
The final installment of offering received from Koti Chennaya devotees from Kuwait for the resurrection of Kuppe Panjurli Daivasthana was handed over to the Deyi Baydethi Koti Chennaya Moolasthana Kshethradalitha Samithi on the occasion.
Members of Billava Sangha Kuwait had a small counselling session where they motivated the students. The Education Programme was beautifully hosted by Jayananda and concluded with a vote of thanks by Gautham Suvarna, general secretary of Billava Sangha Kuwait.
Billava Sangha Kuwait pledged to carry on with their slogan 'proud associates for education to the deprived, path to enlightenment and life' with more enthusiasm year after year.
