Mangaluru, Sep 2: The slipping of home portfolio that was almost fixed to Ramanath Rai has disappointed Congress in the coast, it is gathered. Though no one has given any open statement about it, followers of Rai are expected to talk about it in the near future.

The news that home portfolio would be assigned to him could be heard for the last one month. However Ramalinga Reddy was made the home minister on Friday instead of Ramanath Rai.

The portfolio which was with KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar earlier was held by the Chief minister for some time. It was decided to hand over the charge to Ramanath Rai as per high command orders. Kempaiah, advisor to home minister, too had gone to the residence of Rai and held discussions on Friday morning.

It was decided that Rai will land in Bajpe in the morning at 8.30 am on Saturday and will be led in procession to his constituency. However the expectations have become false.

Ramanath Rai said that he did not expect the post of home minister. He said that he will shoulder any responsibility that is entrusted to him. “I am not so big to refuse responsibilities,” he said.

    I am of the opinion that Mr. Ramanath Rai's fans are totally unjustified in being unhappy over the issue. It is one thing to be someone's fans and quite another to see it from an impartial angle. I am not going to comment on the allegation that this minister is having a case against him in one of the stations as alleged by Mr. V.K. Shetty. However, can anybody keep a hand on his chest and say that Mr. Rai has done justice to this district? I have no hesitation to say that he has let done the district. As the district in charge minister, it was incumbent on him to protest against the Yettinahole project. It was his sacred duty as he was very sure that this project was not in the interest of our district. Yet, when it mattered the most, he not only kept quiet but also supported the project. This was unbecoming of a minister who was appointed to keep the interests of the district in mind. Had he put his foot down and gone against the project, probably it would have been scrapped by now. And he would have certainly gained the gratitude of the people of this district. He has not stood by his people when we needed his help. It hardly matters whether he is made the home minister or not. Let the best person be given this responsibility.

    Take it easy. Dhananjaya Kumar is a spent force. He could bring in no impact in KJP or in JD(S) post movement from BJP. I doubt whether he will bring in votes for Congress

    i think you have to understand the issue. Firstly Mr Bhats school is a Govt Aided school and salary for the teachers is being paid by the government.
    Mr Bhat gave in writing during BJP Govt in Karnataka that he dont want govt provided food which was coming from Akshaya Patra Yojana from govt instead he will take the help of Kolluru temple in the form of cash. It is clear that temple was not providing food but its was helping the school with fund it was not any grant provided by the govt but the revenue of the temple was for the govt.
    Presently Mr Bhat is asking that he wants only the cash which is coming from the temple. Ramanath Rai has clearly said that Govt will provide food to the school since it is govt aided school inline Mr Bhat give in writing to the education board that he wants govt provided food for his children.
    Mr Bhat is clearly playing political game with the kids by bringing them to the streets and using them which is not right.
    Now please justify who is wicked and who is misusing the poor and backward community.
