Blue Whale craze enters Mangaluru - Student scratches hand with blade, rescued

Mangaluru, Sep 1: The controversial online Blue Whale game, which has taken away more than 130 lives of children making it a challenge for the world, has put its foot in Mangaluru also. It has been downloaded in the mobiles of school and college students, as per information available.

It is also reported on Friday, August September 1 that a student, who made scratches on his body, influenced by this game, has been rescued due to presence of mind of his parents.

The private high school student had scratched his hand with a blade while playing the game. He was rescued as his alert parents had kept an eye on him.

The student belonging to medium class family is studying in ninth standard. His parents had bought an expensive mobile phone for him. However they were not checking how he used it. As he lagged behind in studies, his teachers had called the parents a few days back and informed them about it. The parents started watching the son after it and the reality came to light.

Student admits the truth

There were marks of scratches made with blade on his hand and he admitted that he played the Blue Whale game. The student had lost interest in studies because of the game.

The parents have taken him to counselors and he is recovering.

City police commissioner T R Suresh said that there is no information of any student affected by Blue Whale game.

“Investigations will be conducted about it. It has been decided to hold awareness programmes in schools and colleges about it,” he said.

Bengaluru has secured sixth place among ten cities in the world which have searched for Blue Whale challenge game. Kolkata in West Bengal is in first place. Gauhati, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi cities are leading top in the list after Kolkata.
