Mangaluru: CCB police raid two massage parlours, arrest seven, rescue 11 women

Mangaluru, Aug 30: The city crime branch (CCB) police on Wednesday August 30 raided massage parlours at two places. As many as 11 women were rescued and seven persons were arrested.

In the first instance, the police raided the Indian Sandal Ayurvedic massage parlour located on the second floor of a complex in Kadri and rescued five women.

During the raid, police arrested owner Pradeep Thokkottu, co-owner Reshma Hosabettu of Suratkal, who, the police said was the pimp, and customers Abhishek Mulihitlu and Chandranath Bokkapatna.

Five girls aged between 20 and 25 years and a woman aged 45, hailing from various places in Mangaluru and Udupi were rescued.

The police seized Rs 1,500 in cash during the raid.

In the second instance, CCB police raided Sanjeevani Ayurvedic Therapy Clinic located on the first floor of a complex at KS Rao road here.

Six women aged between 22 and 31 years were rescued. The rescued women are natives of Hubballi, Chikkamaguluru, Bengaluru, Uttara Kannada, Hassan and Puttur.

The police arrested owner Harish Shetty of Mangaluru, Veena (pimp) from Suratkal and Ravi of Manjeshwar, Kasargod. Rs 500 was seized in cash.

The raids were conducted by the CCB team with the help of CCRB officials of Mangaluru city police.

    I yet to understand what is the meaning of women rescued and men arrested!!.
    Aren't these women joined that dirty place by their own choice?. Why didn't these women complaint to the concerned authorities if they were made to work there forcefully?.
