Qatar: MES Students Top Science and Commerce Streams

Doha, May 24: MES Indian School students Priyal Ramesh Bhai Patel (476/500 marks, 95.2%) and Ganesh Kumar (464/500, 92.8%) topped the Science and Commerce streams respectively among the students of Indian schools in Qatar in the CBSE Class XII examination (Delhi zone), the results of which were announced yesterday.

Another MES student, Nadim Moidu (472, 94.4%), came second in the science stream.

In the commerce stream, Shayne Mark Antony of DPS-Modern Indian School was second top scorer with 453/500 marks (90.6%). Govind Haridas (467, 93.4%) of DPS-MIS student was third place in the science stream, while in the Commerce section, Haseena Thayath Madathi of MES Indian School (446, 89.2%) was third overall.

Among the schools, MES which presented the highest number of students (405), has the highest number of successful candidates as well, numbering 400 (98.76%). Out of the 263 students appeared in the science stream from the school, 261 were successful, of which 150 passed with distinction (75% or more). Hundred others scored between 60 and 75%.

Similarly in the commerce stream, out of the 142 students who appeared from MES, 139 were successful.

At MES, a total of 136 students secured A1 in English, of which 83 scored 90%. Another 225 students scored 80% or above. Another major achievement of the school was that 308 of its students secured more than 80% in English. The school also secured AI grade for 53 chemistry, 52 Information Technology and 48 Computer Science students.

At MES, third position in science was shared between Sreejith Babu and Anju Daniel Prasanth, each with 465 marks (93%). In commerce, behind Kumar and Haseena were Jerome James and C Prathiba, each scoring 443 marks (88.6%).

At Ideal Indian School, 122 of 123 appeared were successful and of which 114 secured first class (over 60%), and 52 have distinction. A Pakistani boy, Emad Mansoor Alam topped the school (90.6% in science stream) and Zubin Desai (88.4%) came first in Commerce.

In science, Priyanka George (88.6%) and Dillan Raymond Roshan (87.6%) were second and third top scorers receptively.

DPS-MIS School presented 44 students, and all were successful. Other than Govind Haridas and Shayne Mark Antony, who figured in top three rankings in science and commerce streams respectively, other top scorers were Arunima Bera, who was among toppers in English and mathematics, and Manju Mukundan (460, 92%), who was among toppers in biology.

Alex Mathew Vachaparambil (465, 93%) shared second place with Bera in the science stream at the school.

Antony secured second overall in Qatar in Commerce, while Shweta Seetharaman (86.2%) and Hafiz Hassan Kunhi (85.2%) were second and third.

The lone 100% score came in Engineering drawing, where Ideal Indian School’s Priyanka George was the topper.

However in computer science and home science together, many students scored 99% marks.

In home science, three students - Sruti Laura George (Ideal Indian School), Naima Khader and Ananthan Lokapriya (both of MES) - secured 99% marks. In computer science, four MES students - Anju Mary Samuel, Geena Mary Felix, Sreejith Babu and Shaikh Akif - scored 99% marks.

In bio-technology, Reena Sara Jacob of MES secured 99%.

Subject toppers: English: Sana Shrfuddin and Fasila Saidalavy (MES, 95%), Arunima Bera (DPS-MIS, 95%).

Mathematics: Meera George (MES, 97%) and Arunima Bera (DPS-MIS, 97%).

Physics: Emad Mansoor Alam (Ideal, 97%), Chemistry: Anju Daniel Prasath (MES, 97%), Biology: Roohi Rahiman (MES, 95%), Manju Mukundan (DPS-MIS, 95%), Computer Science:  Anju Mary Samuel, Geena Mary Felix, Sreejith Babu and Shaikh Akif (all MES, with 99%), Home Science: Sruthi Laura George (Ideal Indian School, 99%), Naima Khader and Ananthan Lokapriya (both 99%, MES), Business studies: Ganesh Kumar, Prathiba, Reshma Aboo, Rohan Budhiraja (all MES, 95%), Preethika Thayalan, Shea Koshy and Rabab Abdulla (Ideal, 95%), Hafiz Hassan Kunhi (DPS-MIS,95%), Economics: Preethika Thayalan (Ideal, 95%), T M Haseena (MES, 95%),  Accountancy: Nayantara Kumar (Ideal Indian School, 97%), Information practices: Haniya Jafar (MES, 95%), Engineering drawing: Priyanka George (Ideal Indian School, 100%), Bio-technology: Reena Sara Jacob (MES, 99%).

Psychology and physical education courses are offered only at DPS-MIS Indian School and its students Visakha Nangalia (92%) and Shayne Mark Antony (94%) were top scorers.
