Mangaluru, Aug 29: St Agnes College NSS volunteers organized a one-day programme ‘Gaddeyalli ondhu dina’ on August 27 near Pandit House, Mangaluru.
Around 40 NSS volunteers participated in the program. These volunteers though coming from different backgrounds and families, worked together as farmers for the whole day.
The volunteers were provided with breakfast and lunch by the locals of Pandit House. Dhanalakshmi Gatti, a member zilla panchayat of Kuthar village also visited and participated in the programme. The volunteers were divided into two different groups and planted crops in two fields.
Indeed, this was a new experience for all the volunteers. Working as a farmer for one day the students came to know the pain and effort taken by the farmers to plant the crops and harvest.
