Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru
Mangaluru, Aug 29: Melodia Voice Studio, Dubai has produced two choral albums in Konkani titled ‘Tujya Nivasanth’ and ‘Yeya Gavyam’. Both were released simultaneously in Mangaluru, Pamboor near Udupi and Belthangady this month.
With the success of two consecutive programmes broadcast on TV Daijiworld 24x7 portraying a variety of Konkani and choral songs by Melodia choir, Jossie Moras was inspired to produce these hymns with focus on choral singing.
In Udupi, these albums were released at Holy Cross Church, Pamboor on August 15 by Fr Paul Rego, parish priest along with Prakash Noronha, vice president of parish pastoral council and Diany D’Souza.
In Mangaluru, the albums were released at Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatta on August 17 by Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, superior, St Joseph’s Monastery along with Jossie Moras, Lydwin Cutinho, Diany D’Souza and Vincent Pinto, sales and marketing manager, Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd.
In Belthangady, the native parish of Jossie Moras, the CDs were released by Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, parish priest in the presence of Victor and Philomena Moras, parents of Jossie Moras and Thomas Lobo, the choirmaster.
The first album ‘Yeya Gavyam’ was earlier released in Dubai in 2016. The hymns gained popularity among the Mangalurean families living in Dubai. The album contains 11 hymns, some of which are dedicated to Mother Mary. These are hymns that are being sung in almost every Konkani home. These were rearranged for choral rendition. The old hymns were recorded with permission from Fr Vijay Machado, director of Mangala Jyothi, Mangaluru.
The hymns are- E Morye Tujem Nanv Varnitanv, Maye Moje Bhov Mogal, Morye Sadanch Adhar Tuzo, Suryaparim Thi Parzaltha, Zashem Ful Udkavinn Bavtha, Rakann and Bhodvya Moja. The new ones are ‘Askat Abal Patki Monsha’, ‘Khursa Mullim’, hymns for the Lenten season and a duet for weddings ‘Jem Devan Zodilla’. These songs are composed by Jossie Moras.
The second album ‘Tujea Nivasanth’ has 10 brand new hymns composed by Jossie Moras with music and recording by Thushara Kuruvitage who is a well-known name in Dubai.
The titles are ‘Bhagevont Morye’ - a Marian hymn, ‘Samadhanachem Hather’ - is the well-known peace prayer of St Francis of Assisi, Tujea Nivasant, Somia tujea hea mandirant, Alleluia, Arpuncheak Tuka Bapa, Tuka bhukevn tuka tanevn, Ye Jezu tum Ye, Mojea Kallzant ailai Somia, Sarvespora Deva, Bhagevont Morie and Samadhanachem Hather.
Melodia Choir, Dubai under the training of Jossie Moras has sung all the hymns in a unique choral style unlike the contemporary Konkani style of singing. Keeping in mind the importance of congregational singing in liturgy, Jossie Moras has taken every detail into consideration in harmonizing all hymns for simple three part singing.
The CD will be released on September 8 in UAE and on September 10 in Mumbai.
