Oman: Raj Kapoor’s Film Fest from May 27

Muscat, May 22:
Raj Kapoor fans in Muscat now have a reason to rejoice.

The Indian embassy, in collaboration with Indian Social Club and Al Nasr cinema, will hold a festival of Raj Kapoor’s films from May 27 to June 10, at the Al Nasr cinema main hall. The films, ranging from the 1940s down to the 70s, will be a tribute to the ‘ultimate showman’ whose movies continue to create magic even today. The film festival will be formally inaugurated by Anil Wadhwa, Indian ambassador to the Sultanate, on May 27. Entry is by invitation only.

All movies have been censored, courtesy Al Nasr cinema, and cleared for showing. The movies will begin at 7pm and will continue without a break. The movies have been selected on the basis of availability in the archives. With the exception of Sangam, all movies will begin at 7pm. Sangam, on account of its length, will begin at 6.30pm.

The schedule is as follows: May 27 Satyam Shivam Sundaram (C.P No. 276); May 28 Bobby (C.P No. 277); June 1 Sangam (C.P No. 274); June 7 Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (C.P No. 280); June 8 Boot Polish (C.P No. 279); June 9 Awara (C.P No. 275); and June 10 Barsat (C.P No. 278).
