Mangaluru, Aug 25: Kannada movie 'March 22', the keenly-awaited maiden cineman venture of NRI entrepreneur Harish Sherigar under the banner of 'ACME Movies International' released on Friday August 25 all over Karnataka.
In Mangaluru, an inaugural ceremony at Jyothi theatre marked the movie's release.
U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplies, Ivan D'Souza, MLC and chief whip of the state Legislative Council, J R Lobo, MLA, Sadananda Shetty, K R Shriyan, Dr Devaraj, K V Devadiga, K J Devadiga, Prakash Sherigar, and Shrinivas Sherigar inaugurated the first show by lighting the lamp.
Wishing all success to the movie, U T Khader said, "The world observes March 22 as International Water Day. We should be aware about the scarcity of water in today's times. Hope this movie also conveys a message on saving water. This movie has been made by a producer from our own region. I congratulate Harish and Sharmila Sherigar on producing this movie."
Ivan D'Souza said, "Nowadays many talents from our region are entering the cinema world and earning much appreciation. With 'March 22' Harish Sherigar has entered Sandalwood in a role of a producer. I congratulate him. I have heard 'March 22' is based on the issue of water crisis. It is a good topic given the current situation, and we should encourage it. Movies that create awareness can change the mindset of people. So more of such movies that carry a social message should come up."
J R Lobo said, "Currently our talents are shining in Sandalwood. They are an inspiration for other talents and youngsters. Of late, our people have taken the cinema world as a challenge and earned fame. 'March 22' is a movie that gives a strong social message on saving water. I like the fact that the producers and directors have shown guts in making a film over a social issue. I congratulate them and wish the movie becomes a super hit."
The film has been produced by well-known Dubai-based entrepreneur Harish Sherigar and his wife Sharmila Sherigar under the banner ACME Movies International, and directed by Kodlu Ramakrishna. The pair of veteran actors Anant Nag and Geetha will be seen in the film after a long time. The film also stars Bollywood actor Ashish Vidyarthi and businessman Padmashree Dr B R Shetty who has featured on the big screen for the first time.
