Puttur, Aug 24: Philo Ninaada, university level intercollegiate music competitions, organised by St Philomena College, here, on Wednesday, August 23, came to a close at the valedictory programme held in the college auditorium.
Chief guest Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director and chairman, Centre for PG Studies and guest of honour prof Udaya Barkur, director of Students Welfare Office, Mangalore University distributed prizes to the winners of ‘Philo Ninaada’.
Principal prof Leo Noronha presided over the programme.
'Philo Ninaada' included eight events, namely, Classical Vocal Solo, Classical instrument Solo-Percussion, Classical Instrument Solo-Non-Percussion, Light Vocal-Indian, Western Vocal, Group Song-Indian, Group Song-Western and Folk Orchestra.
More than 450 students from 21 colleges of Mangalore University participated in various events of ‘Philo Ninaada’.
The overall championship was bagged by Alva’s College, Moodbidri. The runner-up award was secured by Vivekananda College, Puttur and the second runner-up award was bagged by SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire.
Associate professor of commerce Dr Haribert Nazareth welcomed the gathering. Head of department of Commerce prof Maxim Carl presented the details of prize winners.
Convener of Philo Ninada, Prashanth Rai, proposed the vote of thanks. Head of department of Kannada Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar compered the programme.
