Bengaluru, Aug 24: BJP which has begun the task of preparing for the election at the grass-root level now, has drafted a strategy as per which candidates capable of positively influencing the chances of BJP candidates in the neigbouring constitueices will be favoured. This effectively means that a candidate, to be eligible to be fielded, should wield influence in neighbouring constituencies in addition to their own. This will enhance the chances of victory of the BJP candidates and the candidates therefore will mutually support each other.
During his recent visit to the state, BJP national president, Amit Shah, had suggested certain yardsticks for the selection of candidates. He wanted the candidates to do something for the party in return for favours received from it. "In addition to ensuring your own victory you should also make sure that BJP candidates fielded in your neighbouring constituencies become victorious too," he had told the aspirants through state leaders.

The state leaders have now sent these guidelines to district presidents of the party and those who have shown interest to become candidates of the party for the coming assembly election. Amit Shah had stressed that unless a new strategy is adopted to succeed in Mission-150, it is not easy to meet this target.
Under the 'Vistarak' scheme of the BJP that was implemented in July this year, leaders of a constituency, in addition to strengthening booth level organization, were also told to visit nearby constituencies and work there. Over 41,000 of booths out of 57,000 in the state had been covered under this programme. Sources said that the current plan is an extension of this scheme.
This strategy covers all the current and past MLAs and other ticket aspirants. Party's office bearers and state leaders have been exempted as they have additional responsibilties to handle, it is gathered.
As per information, Amit Shah had set up his own team comprising Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders and representatives of private firms who will keep an eye on candidates, whose chances of winning are bright, and who can also brighten chances of neighbouring BJP candidates. Amit Shah will refer to the reports received from these teams at the time of preparing list of party candidates, it is said.
