Udupi, Aug 21: The accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case were on Monday August 21 brought to Udupi court by police - in a luxury car!
NRI businessman Bhaskar Shetty was allegedly killed by Rajeshwari Shetty and son Navaneet Shetty on June 28, 2016 and his body 'set on fire' in the Homakunda in the house of astrologer Niranjan Bhat, alleged to be Rajashwari Shetty's paramour. All three were later arrested in the case.
Rajeshwari Shetty subsequently submitted bail application to the high court. When it was rejected there too, she submitted an application in the Supreme Court. But the bail was also refused by the apex court.
As the duration of judicial custody is over, the police on Monday produced the accused in the district and sessions court.
The three prime accused were seen being brought to the district court in a luxury AC Innova car. On previous occasions, they had been brought to the court in police jeep sitting on the seat meant for police inspector.
Rajeshwari Shetty was visibly shocked to see that media was recording even as she was speaking to Niranjan Bhat. Renuka, her sister, expressed ire at the media. She even later called up Daijiworld's Udupi office and spoke threateningly, and warned against publishing the news.
Police personnel suspended
Shortly after the above report on the accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case being given special treatment and being brought in a luxury car was published on daijiworld, the police department suspended three cops.
Based on a preliminary report by Udupi DSP, three cops namely ARSI Sudhakar and police constables Renuka and Salman Khan have been suspended from duty pending inquiry.
