Mangaluru, Aug 21: The police have arrested two persons including the prime accused in the Sharath Madivala murder case, sources said.
RSS workers Sharath Madivala was attacked by a group on the night of July 4 at BC Road. He died two days later. His death sparked protests and clashes, especially during his funeral procession. All of this happened even as prohibitory orders were imposed in the district.
The police are understood to have now arrested two more persons, including the prime accused in the murder.
Sources said that the prime accused has been identified as Shareef, and was arrested from Mysuru on Monday August 21. The other person arrested has been identified as Jabbar.
The total number of arrests in the case has now gone up to 10.
The police made the first breakthrough in the case more than one-and-a-half months of the murder, with the arrest of PFI leader from Chamarajanagar Khaleelulla and Bantwal's Abdul Shafi. More arrests were made in the subsequent days.
So far, apart from Khaleelulla, Abdul Shafi, Jabbar and Shareef, the police have arrested Riyaz, Sadiq Nelyadi, Khaleem,
Sadique, Saleha and Rahim. Among them, the last six face charges of helping the main accused and giving them shelter.
