Mangaluru, Aug 20: Students from various colleges put their skills to test in a variety of competions during 'Navrang' a national-level inter-collegiate fest organised by Milagres College here on Saturday August 19.
As the name suggests, 'Navrang' meaning nine colours, consisted of nine events that provided an opportunity to the students to exhibit their artistic skills. The science department of Milagres Degree College organized the fest.
Fr J B Crasta, dean, episcopal city deanery and parish priest of Rosario Cathedral was the chief guest of the function. K P Singh, assistant manager at Hotel Ocean Pearl was the guest of honour. Cecilia Pereira, vice-president of Milagres parish pastoral coucil, Ivan Fernandes, secretary of Milagres parish pastoral coucil, Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal of Milagres College, Denzil D'Costa, HoD of the science department, Preetham Sequeira, staff convener of 'Navrang' and Arith Joel Pinto, student coordinator were present on the dais at the inaugural function.
Various competitions like Rangoli, face painting, collage making, solo singing, photography, art out of waste, cooking without fire, pencil sketching and flower arrangement were organized, in which more than 18 colleges from in and around Mangaluru participated.
Padua PU College, Mangaluru won the overall championship while St Aloysius PU College were the runners-up of the competitions.
Lunch was provided for the participants and the guests, after which the valedictory function was held. Fr Valerian D'Souza, correspondent of Milagres Institutions was the chief guest of the function. Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal of Milagres Degree College, Cassin Rodrigues, vice-principal of Milagres Degree College, Denzil Celestine D'Costa, Preetham Sequeira, and Arith Joel Pinto were present.
