Bengaluru, Aug 20: BJP workers in the city staged a protest near the busy Mysore Bank Circle near Majestic bus stop in Bengaluru on Sunday morning opposing the filing of FIR by the Anti-Corruption Bureau against State Party Chief and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in the alleged land denotifications cases.
Traffic movement was disrupted for some time as hundreds of BJP workers members blocked the road.
BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation and accused him of misusing the Anti-Corruption Bureau for his personal gain.
The ACB registered FIR within half-an-hour of the complaint and it was nothing but vendetta politics, Ashok said.
However, Dr D Aiyyappa, who had filed the complaint before the ACB against Yeddyurappa, has contended that the complaint was not politically motivated and argued that the former BJP Chief Minister was guilty of denotifying lands in the Shivaram Karanth Layout.
"If Yeddyurappa is innocent as he claims, why is he shying away from appearing before ACB and approaching the High Court? Let him prove his innocence," Dr Aiyappa said.
Dr Aiyyappa also clarified that he had nothing to do with Yeddyurappa and that the land denotifications had resulted in a loss of at least Rs 3,800 crore.
