Mangaluru, Aug 20: Chief whip of Legislative Council Ivan D'Souza on Sunday August 20 denied the role of Congress in the denotification case against BJP state president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Addressing a press meet here Ivan D'Souza said, "Dr Aiyappa has complained to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) about the illegal denotification of land at Shivaram Karanth layout in Bengaluru, in which former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is the prime accused and Basavaraj is the second accused. BJP has claimed Congress' involvement in the complaint. I strongly deny the allegation. Congress has nothing to do with the complaint.
"Corruption is not new for BJP. Corruption, jail and bail have become a daily routine for BJP leaders. Former chief minister Yeddyurappa himself has 24 cases against his name. It is totally wrong to blame chief minister Siddaramaiah for the denotification case filed against Yeddyurappa," he said.
"Congress has introduced several pro-people programmes and BJP is unable to digest it. Hence BJP leaders are devising strategies to destabilize the Congress, but we will not give in. BJP is protesting in Bengaluru. BJP does not want to protest for the sake of people, it only to protect its leaders," he adde.
Former district Congress president Ibrahim Kodijaal, Bhaskar Rao, Chandrashekar Gatty, Yusuf Khader and others were present.
