Mangaluru: Coastal districts receive good spell of rainfall, more expected

Mangaluru, Aug 20: After a brief break of some days, coastal districts received good spell of rainfall on Friday and Saturday. More rains are expected on Sunday and Monday also.

Dakshina Kannada district received a good spell of rainfall on Friday night and Saturday morning. After that rains continued till later Saturday.

The sky remained overcast throughout the day in the coastal region.

Dakshina Kannada received an average rainfall of 40 mm during a period of 24 hours from Friday till late Saturday. Belthangady received the highest rainfall compared to Puttur and Mangaluru.

Udupi district too experienced good rainfall throughout the district which included Karwar and Kundapur areas.

Bhatkal, Honnavar and Kumta taluks received heavy showers while Karwar, Ankola and Siddapur taluks experienced drizzle in the neighbouring Uttara Kannada district.

Malnad areas of Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Kodagu too received more than average rainfall. North Karnataka too experienced good rainfall. In short whole of Karnataka has started receiving good rains to make up the shortage in the ongoing monsoon.

Skies in most parts of the costal districts are cloudy.
