Kundapur, Aug 17: Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Friday August 17, challenged chief minister Siddaramaiah over his reaction against the statements of Amit Shah regarding funds provided by the union government to Karnataka state.
“Let us hold a discussion on a platform. I will show with proof on the amount provided by the union government to Karnataka state. If there are discrepancies in the statements made by Amit Shah, I will give up politics. Will Siddaramaiah stay away from politics if the statements are correct?” he said.
Gowda was speaking at Anegudde temple after visiting the deities at Kollur and Hattiangady temples. He offered special prayers at Anegudde temple.
Speaking about chief minister's questioning the authority of Amit Shah to ask accounts of funds, he said that each one in the country has the right to know the developments in the country. “Siddaramaiah is indulging in small minded politics. Therefore the situation in Karnataka has become miserable. Amith Shah is the national president of BJP. BJP is in power at the center. Therefore, he too has the authority to question Siddaramaiah. Elections will be held in a few months. It is said that light is more just before it gets extinguished,” he said wryly.
“There were attempts to implement 94C and 94CC when I was the chief minister. Siddaramaiah government has implemented it due to delay from the governor to sign for it. Congress taking credit for it is not fair. We had studied it and tried to implement when I was the chief minister.” he opined.
“A new formula is implemented for selecting candidates for 2018 Assembly elections. New faces and those who are interested to serve people will be given preference. A core committee meeting is called on Aug ust 26 to discuss about it. Discussions regarding selection of candidates, strengthening the organization and several such subjects will be discussed in the meeting,” he informed.
“Sand mining has become a business for Congress. PWD minister's son has made name in it. The right hand man of Ramanath Rai has indulged in the business. The business is thriving all over the state with the support of ruling party. Sand has become a business and source of income for Congress.
“Did not Ramanath Rai know that subsidy is given to schools run by Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat during the last four years? Did Rai wake up after uproar in Dakshina Kannada district? It is unfair to stop what was being provided to poor children whether from government schools or private schools. There was no need of private schools if the governments had run them,” he said.
The body and soul of Halady Srinivasa Shetty are in BJP. He was sitting in the front row in the BJP conference the other day. He will definitely come to BJP,” he said.
Wife of Sadananda Gowda, his son Karthik and Rajesh Kaveri, district president of BJP backward class morcha, were present with D V Sadananda Gowda.
