Mangaluru, Aug 16: The police have arrested three more persons in connection with the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madivala.
The accused, identified as Riyaz Paranki, Sadiq Nelyadi and Khaleem alias Khaleemullah were arrested on Wednesday August 16.
Among them, Khaleem is a resident of Chamarajanagar.
With this, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to five.
The police earlier arrested PFI president of Chamarajanagar Khaleelullah and Abdul Shafi of Sajipamunnur.
Sharath
Police said that Riyaz, Sadiq and Khaleem have been arrested on charges of helping the main accused and providing them shelter. It is not yet known if they belong to PFI.
They will be produced in court on Thursday August 16 and police custody will be sought.
RSS worker Sharath Madivala was stabbed on the night of July 4 at BC Road. He died in a hospital later. The murder provoked several protests from right-wing groups and BJP, and during his funeral procession, stones were pelted leading to clashes and damage of public property. The murder and the subsquent incidents took place despite Sec 144 being clamped in the district.
