Of all the APMC (agricultural produce market committee) reforms in India, Karnataka’s Rashtriya eMarket Services Pvt. Ltd, or ReMS, has been arguably the most popular one. The Congress-run state’s pioneering effort was mentioned even by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he launched a national electronic trading platform called National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) earlier this year, which is supposed to operate like ReMS.

Raichur agri Scientists use nanotech to make eco-friendly insecticide more effective. The bacterium Photorhabdus luminescens is used as a biocontrol agent against a wide range of crop pests, like mite, aphid and mealy bugs. Researchers at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Raichur, Karnataka, have converted the secretion of P. luminescens into nanoparticles and found that its efficacy improved significantly. The nanoparticulate form has been tested against two sucking pests of cotton – a mite, Tetranychus macfarlanei, and an aphid, Aphis gossypii.

From E-Mandi to Nanotech to make eco-friendly insecticide now Karnataka has once again contributed the largest micro irrigation to the nation for agricultural sustainability when the the nation is seeing 14,000 farmers death each year since 2013. Apart from this Karnataka faced unfavorable Supreme court directives to release water to neighbouring Tamil Nadu when the state is reeling under severe drought.
Once the 'food basket' of India Punjab was reduced to cartel of drug trade when SAD-BJP was in state. But present state government of CM Siddaramaiah once again gave momentum to 'Jai jawaan, jai kisaan' of former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri who lifted India to be self sustained in agriculture.
