Mangaluru, Aug 16: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Wednesday August 16 demanded ban on Popular Front of India (PFI) and urged the government to include it in the list of terror organizations.
They made this demand in the wake of PFI leader from Chamarajangar Khaleelulla's arrest in connection with the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madivala in BC Road on July 4.
Addressing a press meet here, VHP district president Jagadish Shenava said, "From the past two years, PFI activists have had a role to play in the murders of Hindu activists in the state. PFI activists have been arrested for the murders of Prashant Poojary in Moodbidri, Rudresh in Bengaluru, Raju in Mysuru and Sharath Madivala in BC Road. By this, it is clear that PFI is an anti-national organization.
"Despite the fact that the central intelligence has recommended action against PFI, no measure has been taken to curb the outfit," he added.
"The murder of Sharath Madivala by the PFI leader from Chamarajanagar was plotted to create fear in the minds of the people of the state and spark communal violence. It has been once again proved that PFI is a terror organisation and is functioning with the sole intention of creating tension in society.
"We urge the central and the state governments to include PFI and other such outifts in the list of terror organizations and ban them for breaking the harmony in society and damaging national integrity," Shenava said.
He also appreciated and congratulated Dakshina Kannada and Mangaluru police for arresting the culprits in the Sharath murder case. "Police have done a very good job. They took time to crack the Sharath murder case, but finally they succeeded in arresting the real culprits.
"Though two accused have been arrested in the case, those who were directly involved are yet to be arrested. District SDPI and PFI leaders are involved in Sharath's murder, and we urge the police department to arrest them too. Also all those who helped the murderers should also be dealt with according to law," he added.
To a question on BJP-SDPI friendship, he said, "We are against BJP-SDPI friendship in the political field. We have made this clear in all our meetings. BJP members should not have any understanding with the SDPI."
VHP district secretary Gopal Kuthar and Bajrang Dal district convenor Bhujanga Kulal were present.
