Udupi, Aug 16: A vintage bike and car rally on Tuesday August 15 created an atmosphere of yore in Manipal, adding a touch of nostalgia that complemented the Independence Day celebrations.
The Classic Parade was organized by Manipal Auto Club marking Independence Day.
The vintage car and bike rally set off from the deputy commissioner's office, Manipal to the Karavali bypass and back to the start point.
President of the club, Nishanth Bhat, flagged off the rally. The classics made their way to Syndicate circle, Indrali, Kadiyali, city bus stand and finally to Karavali Bypass and retraced the route to the start.
Among the classic beauties were 1929 Plymouth, 1934 Morris 10/4, 1936 Ford, 1948 Morris Minor, 1948 Bug Fiat, 1951 Morris, 1956 Fiat 1100, Landmaster, Fiat, classic cars, vintage bikes and classic bikes. Among those who participated were United Riders, Udupi and Jawa Club.
Antique car collector, Prakash Shetty, Arun Shirali, Ganesh Udyavar professional vintage car greaser, Vasant, and bike fixer Rashid, were felicitated on occasion.
Vice-president of the club Afzal P M, secretary Dr Rajesh Nayak, Dr Dinesh Nayak, Jerry Joseph were present among other dignitaries.
