Madikeri, Aug 15: Relating to the murder of Shahul Hamid during Tipu Jayanti celebrations two years back, three accused stand acquitted.
Kavan, Bheeshma and Ramesh are the acquitted persons.
First sessions court here delivering the judgment said that the accused have been acquitted due to lack of evidence. Shahul had died due to bullet injuries sustained on November 10, 2015 during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations.

The state government had decided to hold birthday celebrations in memory of Tipu Sultan amid objections from many quarters. District administration here too held the celebrations where lathi charge took place because of disturbances. Vishwa Hindu Parishad activist Kuttappa had died in the incident.
Shahul Hamid had arrived from Siddapur for the event with his friends. While they were returning in the vehicle, unknown persons had fired at him and he was injured with bullet injuries. After that he took treatment in a hospital for some days, but succumbed to injuries subsequently.
The first sessions court which took up the trial of the case acquitted the accused and said that the prosecution has failed to prove the case.
