Udupi, Aug 12: The first welcome committee meeting on the preparation for the three-day all-India Religious Parliament, to be held this November, was convened on Saturday August 12 at Vittala Sabha Bhavan here. The mega religious meet is being organized by the VHP from November 24 to 26.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Vishweshwateertha Swamiji said, "The Dharma Samsad (Religious Parliament) will be open for all without any discrimination of caste or religion. Religious parliaments held in the past have brought many changes in the nation. Thousands of sages will arrive from far off places."

On the issue of the construction of Ram Mandir, he said, "The doors of Ram Mandir should open. The issue is now in the Supreme Court and I hope the court verdict comes in December. Discussions would be held during the Religious Parliament on the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, only after obtaining legal approval."

He urged people to participate in the religious event enthusiastically.

Dr Veerendra Hegde said, "There are two types of Dharma - one is the religion we practice, and the second is charity. Pejawar swamiji has inspired me to engage in social service. We have contributed to the renovation of more than 200 crematoriums and over 150 temples.

"Communal conflicts are increasing in the name of religion. If we consider all religion as equal, there would will be no conflict. Everyone should unite by keeping aside trivial issues and join hands in building a strong nation. Such programmes (such as the Religious Parliament) should be an inspiration to the younger generation. Let us organise this programme systematically to strengthen the nation," he said.

In a separate press meet held after the meeting, Pejawar Swamiji said, "Various problems of Hindu dharma will be discussed in the presence of senior saints and sages. This is a unique convention. There will be more people from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi participating in the convention. The Religious Parliament should become a strong base for the unity of Hindu dharma. There should not be any caste or religious discrimination. The convention should help in building a strong nation.

"There will be no specific issue to discuss except the Ram Mandir. My stance on the location of Ram Mandir will not change," he asserted.

National general secretary of RSS Sampath Roy and VHP working president M B Puranik announced the names of the office-bearers of the welcome committee.

Sri Vishweshwateertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math will preside over the programme. Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dr Veerendra Hedge will be the executive president of the welcome committee and will guide the members. Dr Sandhya Pai will be the chief editor of the souvenir of the Religion Parliament.

Over 2000 people from across the country are expected to participate in the meet. A day-long conference on the Hindu society will be held during the event.

Ifthar party and Babri Mandir issue can't get along. If Swamiji wanted to devote his religion for humanity he need make wise choice.
It is true that Swamiji among the first to organise havana in celebration when Babri masjid came down. People in UP need basic health care facility, sanitation, security, employment and freedom.

If Hindu scripture 'Ramayana' says Lord Ram is born exactly pin point at the same Babri Masjid we Indian accept the court judgement. Please do not indulge in politics.
Kindly be guidance for the youth of your society.

Pejavar swamiji instead of calling meeting for discussion on Ram temple issue ,should have rushed to Gorakhpur to console the aggrieved by the untimely death of little ones.Ram mandir discussion will continue till this century.Swamijis words, actions will have great weight than of others ....can also release some portion of funds collected 25 years ago in the name of temple, for Gorakhpur people.

Unite in the name of god but not in the name of caste or religion. Bridge gap and not divide. Make people wise and loving rather hate each other. Develop peace and teachari to forgive oNE another without limitation. Help the poor and needy without religious bias. Free to practice whatever you believe as long as one god. Stop dominating based on religion and attacks on god places of worship. God bless of this event and bless all those who preach and listens with wisdom and wiserway to make right decisions in life

It is great that, like the first world parliament of religions assembled in Chicago in the year 1983, where Swami Vivekananda delivered his lectures representing Hinduism. He started the lecture " I can't believe in a God of religion which can't wipe the tears of the widow and can't give a piece of bread to an orphan child."

In the earliest book written in the Bible (New Testament) by the Bishop of Jerusalem, the book of James, we read a very similar verse " Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world". James 1:27.

Swami Vivekananda had hardly anything as his own other than two religious books-a pot to drink water and two pair of clothing. The books were " Bhagavat Gita" and " Imitation of Christ" written by a Catholic Monk Thomas A. Kempis in the 14th century.

All the best wishes to start a Parliament of Religions in Karnataka at first.

We have learnt to co-habitat with people with various religious affiliations for centuries now. Building of Ram Mandir must be based on consensus (in good faith; abuse of secularism not intended) as Ram Mandir is about culture and not religion. While we appreciate Abhu Dhabi for allowing Mandir on its soil we must simultaneously also appreciate Babri Masjid on Indian Soil.
Babri Masjid for whatever reasons is contentious because of historical reasons. But, contentious issues associated with the same does not have place in 21st century. And logic also should be extended to Ram Mandir. An accommodative society should bridge the gap and enable building of Ram Mandir that is of "everyone's" choice. Religion is important because it shapes what we are and inspires us to get up every morning. Religion should not make us to wake up every morning to hate another religion as it defeats the every purpose. Let us lead the world with an example.

Great writing. We all need to learn the high religious tolerance from an Islamic nation " UAE". if the nations of the world will learn from them, and imitate the vision of the great leaders of that country, we all could have lived in peace like the people from 200 nations of the world of all different religions of the world are living in UAE.

If we try to dig the history and to redo everything to please the religious fanatics, we will be heading towards bloodshed. For any nation for their peace and prosperity, they will have to put religion at the back seat. But, sad to say that now in India, the current Government has put religion in the front seat for political mileage which will be causing greater harm in peace and prosperity of the nation.
