Mangaluru: Now, Harishekaran transferred, Hemant Nimbalkar is new IGP

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 7: In yet another announcement of transfers in the police department, the state government on Monday August 7 transferred IGP (western range) Harishekaran.

IPS officer M Hemant Nimbalkar has been appointed new IGP of western range.

An officer of the 1998 batch, Hemant Nimbalkar served as additional commissioner of police (east), Bengaluru before this latest transfer.

Harishekaran has been transferred as IGP to Bengaluru headquarters.

Harishekaran took charge as IGP (western range) in December 2016. Before him, Arun Chakravarthy, who was in the same post, was transferred in just six months.

Over the past three months, in a series of transfers, Mangaluru received new police commissioner, new DCPs and new district superintendent of police. The move gains significance in the wake of unrest over the past three months in the district.

An experienced officer, Nimbalkar has previously also served as SP of Anti-Terrorist Squad, SP of Chikkamagaluru, Belagavi, ADGP (internal security), Bengaluru, joint commissioner of police, Bengaluru, DIG (fire and services), and as IGP of economic offences wing of CID.

It is unfortunate that able and upright Police Officials are transferred at the whims and fancies of Politicians and external pressure it looks like. How do we expect a continuation of executing action plan for " Peace and Harmony " in our district if we have Senior Police Officials being transferred within a year from city. How can we forget that these officials also have a personal life, family life, children studying etc. How in-sensitive are we when it comes to these issues. Instead of their Morale being boasted by us, we are de-moralizing Officials Working Commitment if these kind of transfers are done.
Come on people concerned, wake up and think sensibly and act responsibly. Do not treat the Senior Officials like Puppets in hands of Power and mighty.!

How do you expect police to bring peace and culprits to books when you are not allowing police officers to settle ? This transfer has become a joke now. People question Modi saying there is no dedicated defense minister, but Congress is not able to get a home minister for state.

Mr.Chandrashekar was the best police chief Mangalore had .He should have retained here for some more time.Police officers will loose morale if transferred frequently. They are also human being..have family life..school,college going children...

Such frequent reshuffle will bring down morale of police especially among lower cadre. Each top officer has his own style of functioning for which lower cadre have to adjust, In case of frequent transfers they will not get to acclimatise. This will lead to feeling that whatever you do you are for few months here. There will no long term solution which is very much required at this juncture. Not many understand that policing is a team work.

Political Vendetta. Sad that Karnataka has sick politicians spoiling the lives of these officers. They relocate and come with their families settle down and especially children, change of schools. Bad politics in Karnataka and especially Mangaluru. Hope no more transfers done to favour bad doings.
