Mangaluru, Aug 6: It was a feast for Konkani music lovers in the city as Roshan Rodrigues Madanthyar presented his first musical nite 'Ashellon' as part of Mandd Sobhan's 188th monthly theatre at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar here on Sunday, August 6.
The event, organized by Aangann Konknnechem, Riyadh, was a huge success, with 'Voice of Arabia’ fame Roshan and his troupe sending the crowd into a different world altogether with their brilliant singing and performances.
MLA J R Lobo, Konkani Sahitya Academy former president Roy Castelino and founder of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike, were the chief guests of the programme.
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario in his brief address spoke about how Roshan Rodrigues planned the night at Kalaangann and how the association Aangann Konknnechem took charged of hosting the event. "I have known Roshan for sometime. During my visit to Saudi Arabia as a judge for Gulf Voice of Mangalore semi-finals, I found some singing talents. After the competition I suggested them the idea of presenting a nite at Kalaangann. They agreed wholeheartedly and today I am happy to see them here."
The musical nite began with the opening song by Roshan Rodrigues. Along with Roshan, 'Pride of Arabia' Venessa Saldanha, Nelson Louis, Jean Brags, Disha Prasanna, Loy Saldanha, Baby Aldreena and Arun Palimar rendered their melodious voices during the show.
Roshan was the hero of nite with his song 'Koto Somsar'. It was a different type of song in the Konkani music world. The involvement of the crowd during the performance and the thunderous applause after the song were testimony to the popularity of this song. Roshan and team sung some famous Konkani songs in a tribute to legendary Konkani singers and composers.
Band Charitra, a musical troupe of young talents comprising Loy Valentine Saldhanha, Patson Pereira, Rikith Lenard Sonse, and Sachin Saldanha rendered the music.
Carol D'Souza, Glen Roshan Lobo and Wilson Lobo sent the crowd into fits of laughter with their skits. A skit with the theme ‘Room rent’ was a huge hit. When it comes to innovation in Konkani comedy skits, this particular one may become a trendsetter as it had content, timing and fantastic performances. Dance troupe Nach Sobhann entertained the gathering with their scintillating performances.
Founder of Aangann Konknnechem, Riyadh Arun Palimar thanked all who made this musical nite possible. Sartiha D'Souza compered the event.
