Ramanagara, Aug 5: Gowramma, mother of energy minister, D K Shivakumar, repeated her allegation that chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah, had got her children to serve him to suit his needs, and that he has now been making them a scapegoat. She stressed that she is committed to this statement and there is no question of apologizing to anyone for this statement.
Gowramma was replying to questions raised by media persons at the farm house of the family at Kodihalli in Kanakapura taluk of the district on Friday August 4. "Siddaramaiah is unable to bear the rise of my children in politics. Income tax raid against my son was masterminded to dent his popularity among people and out of fear that he might emerge as next chief minister after the next election," she felt.
Gowramma stated that her son has done everything legally and that he is not involved in illegal activities. She exuded confidence that Shivakumar will wriggle out of the current situation and affectively counter his detractors.
She also angrily questioned as to what Modi has done for the country. "Out of political enmity, raid through income tax officials was planned against my sons, who are serving the people of the state. We will not bend under such tactics. My son has not amassed wealth that is grossly disproportionate to others in the field," she said.
During her visit to the farm house, Gowramma offered prayers to family deity, Kenkeramma, and another deity, Kabbalamma, seeking divine intervention to ward of the problems faced by the family now.
In the meanwhile, MP, D K Suresh, opined that his mother has erroneously taken the name of Siddaramaiah instead of Modi. He said there is no need to attach undue importance to her utterances.
Bengaluru: D K Shivakumar showed BP variation post intense grilling
Bengaluru, Aug 5: Virtually locked inside his palatial Sadashivanagar home, Energy Minister D K Shivakumar was grilled by Income Tax authorities well past midnight on Thursday.
The pressure seemed to have got to Shivakumar, whose consulting physician Dr B Ramana Rao, a cardiologist, was rushed in Friday morning to ensure the Congress strongman is well. It was only when Dr Rao entered the house at around 11 am that news spread about variation in Shivakumar’s blood pressure. Dr Rao is no stranger - at least not in Sadashivanagar where he runs his clinic.
The late Maharaja of Mysore Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, actor Amitabh Bachchan and the late Kannada thespian Dr Rajkumar have been his patients. Dr Rao left about an hour later. Drama prevailed minutes after, when Shivakumar’s brother and Bengaluru Rural MP D K Suresh visited the house. The CRPF personnel, who have accompanied the I-T authorities, denied Suresh entry into the house.
Shivakumar’s supporters, who have camped outside the house, started shouting, demanding that he be let in.
"I came here after I heard the news about my brother being unwell. Initially, officials did not allow me to enter the house. However, I was allowed inside later,” Suresh said. “I met my brother and discussed the situation. Although his health is fine, he is under a lot of pressure. Officers have been questioning him till 1 am in the night. As a result, the doctor was called this morning.”
Barring Suresh, no other family member ventured out.
