Bengaluru, Aug 4: During their continued searches on Thursday August 3, income tax (I-T) officials found that Vellore Shankaranarayana Swarakanath Guruji, popularly known as Dwarakanath Guruji, who is deemed to be very close to embattled minister, D K Shivakumar, owns property worth Rs 800 crore.
Dwarakanath Guruji had recently bought a hospital worth Rs 800 crore by using money invested by Shivakumar. Reportedly, the I-T officials have also recovered an agreement entered into between the two in this regard. The hospital was acquired by Guruji for the sake of his two children, both of them doctors. It is said that he had confessed to the minister that he did not have enough money to acquire the said hospital, and the minister had volunteered to provide funds.
Documents relating to purchase of the said hospital, and agreements relating investments in private companies with the participation of Shivakumar have been taken into possession by officials. Hard disk containing CCTV footage of the house too was taken into possession by them. On Thursday, a bagful of documents were taken over by the officials from the house of Guruji, it is said.
Who is Dwarakanath Guruji?
Dwarakanath Guruji happens to be a guide and philosopher for a number of political leaders, entrepreneurs, bollywood actors and actresses and industrialists, among others. He resides in R T Nagar, and is known to be having powerful links everywhere.
As per information, Shivakumar came in contact with Dwarakanath when the former was student leader in SJRC College. It is said that because of Guruji's efforts, Shivakumar was made minister for prisons in Bangarappa ministry although it was his first term as MLA. It is said that the minister and Guruji are also involved with certain businesses. Dwarakanath happens to be the son of well-known astrologer, Bellur Shankaranarayana. He is a doctor by profession, and his daughter and son, both of whom are doctors, have married people in medical profession.
Dwarakanath rose to national fame after correctly predicting Indira Gandhi's victory from Chikkamagaluru constituency post emergency period. Before the Lok Sabha election 2014 too, he had predicted that Narendra Modi would become the Prime Minister of the country.
Controversies and clients
Dwarakanath has his share of controversies. Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry was held relating to securing of a postgraduate seat for his daughter when question paper of Rajiv Gandhi University of Helath Sciences was leaked. Dwarakanath's first ever controversy related to the death of former chief minister of Karnataka, Devaraj Urs, at his home. Urs's family members had then demanded for investigation into the former chief minister's death, terming it as suspicious.
In addition to Indira Gandhi, former union home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde, political secretary to Sonia Gandhi, Ahjmed Patel, former minister for foreign affairs, Natwar Singh, Punjab chief minister, Amarindar Singh, former chief minsister of Maharashtra, the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, Dharam Singh, S M Krishna and several others were close to him because his prowess at predictions, it is said. Dwarakanath has friends in different political parties and ministers, legislators, bureaucrats and others are among the impressive list of his clients.
