Mangaluru, Aug 3: The city crime branch (CCB) police on Thursday August 3 arrested three youths selling ganja to college students and others at Kadri here. The police also seized the two-wheeler used by them, and the narcotic substance.
The arrested have been identified as Loy Veigas (24), a resident of Derebail, Almed Karkada (24), a resident of Falnir and Pradeep Prabhu (27), a resident of Kadri Kambala road.
These three youths were allegedly selling ganja in front of Bharath Beedi complex near Kadri Kambla road under east Kadri police station limits.
Ganja weighing 1.2 kg, a Bajaj Platina bike and three mobile phones altogether worth Rs 68,500 were seized. It is said that the accused had bought the ganja from Shikaripur to sell in Mangaluru.
Among the accused, Loy Veigas faces nine criminal cases of two-wheeler thefts, assault, kidnap etc in Kavoor, Urva, Barke, Mangaluru north and Mangaluru rural police stations.
The accused and the seized items have been handed over to Mangaluru east police station for further action.
CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik, Shyamunder and staff participated in the operation under directions from DCP of law and order K M Shantharaju, crime and traffic division DCP Hanumantaraya and ACP CCRB Valentine D’ Souza on the orders of police commissioner T R Suresh.
