Mangaluru, Aug 3: ‘Justice for Kavya Forum’ has decided to a hold a mega rally on August 9 in city” said Forum convener Anil Das in a press meet in city on Thursday, August 3
“Various associations have been organising agitations in Dakshina Kannada since last 12 days relating to the unnatural death of Kavya , a student of Alva's institution in Moodbidri. It means police have not succeeded in giving a clear picture on the death to the parents and society,” he said.
“It indicates police department is not much interested in this case. But now all organisations that are supporting Kavya’s family for justice have come under the forum ‘Justice for Kavya '. The forum has decided to fight for justice on one platform and organise a rally on August 9 in city,” he informed.
“The rally will start from Ambedkar Circle at 10 am and will end in front of DC’s office. After the mass protest in front of DC’s office, we will submit a memorandum to DC demanding justice for Kavya. Already more than 30 organisations have confirmed their participation in the rally. We are not using any flags, association banners or slogans against any party, institution or religion. So we appeal to public to join this protest in large numbers," he requested.
“This protest is not against any institution. We are only demanding a proper investigation on Kavya’s unnatural death. ACP Rajendra is the investigation officer. But relatives and public are pointing fingers at him for his partiality. We are wondering as to how police gave him charge to investigate this case. We need transparent investigation," he said.
"Alva’s institution did not gain popularity on its own. Students are the main reason for its popularity. But one MLC who got elected in education quota and other person who heads different educational institutions are saying through media that the agitators are trying to defame the institution’s name. First off all we are condemning their statement and inviting them to join with us because the institution gained its fame from talented students like Kavya. If they are supporting the popularity of the institution, then they should stand with students.” he concluded.
Dinakar Shetty the member of forum said, "We are not responsible for the defaming comments and news which are being circulated in social media. Our goal is only to give justice for Kavya and her parents. We will continue our fight till we get justice and compensation for Kavya."
Social worker Robert Rosario said "Yesterday ACP went to Kavya’s house and questioned her mother over the case. After the long hours of questioning, she fainted. The FIR and postmortem copy have not been given to the family yet. It indicates foul play in Kavya’s death. So we will never stop our fight until truth comes out,"
Vishnumurthy, B. F Pinto, Praveen Bangera, Raghuveer Sooterpete and Vijayashree were present in the press meet.
