Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 2: The city police commissioner has, through an order issued on Tuesday August 1, brought into force prohibitory orders within the limits of the commissionerate.

This measure has been undertaken in public interest as a preventive measure against recurrence of unsavoury incidents which might create public unrest, and as precautionary measure.

The prohibitory orders issued earlier under section 35 of Karnataka Police Act 1963 were in force from July 15 to midnight of July 30. The orders now issued will be in force from 10 am on August 2 to midnight on August 8.

City police commissioner, T R Suresh, issued the said order which prohibits public utterance of cries, playing of music, dissemination of objects like placards and pictures, carrying of arms etc which might affect public order during the said period.

It is very unfortunate that Mangalore which used to be such peaceful city has turned out to be an area for crime and murder.

It appears that some of the bad elements do not wish Peace to prevail - thus keeping the Police department on the alert always.

The prohibitory orders are issued in public interest and it unfortunate that peace loving people also should suffer the consequences of the order.

Under the circumstances stern action is called for and it is good to see that Mr. Suresh - the present commissioner has not hesitated to take this kind of action.

Dear Commissioner either you do your job as per your post or resign. It looks more like we people have to live like prisoners. These goons creating trouble striking unnecessarily and causing damage to property, just convict them undo Goonda act and send them to Bellari. Why CM or any minister must tell you what and how to do? Being a Policeman is service to your community and nation. Am proud of you but you must act firm, not on what ministers say. If you do so, you need not and must strip yourself of your uniform.
