Kundapur, Aug 1: A fisherman lost balance, fell into sea and died as the boat got caught in massive sea waves at Koravadi near Kumbhashi on Tuesday, August 1
Jaya Kunder (42) from Santhekatte Kallianpur is the person deceased.
Jaya Kunder, Lava Kanchan and Narayana Kunder had gone for fishing in a country boat in the morning on August 1. The boat caught in the massive sea waves started shaking and Jaya Kunder fell in the water. The other two fishermen in the boat tried to rescue him but could not succeed.
Jaya Kunder who fell from the boat tried hard to climb back into the boat. He had started swimming in the sea for fifteen minutes soon after falling in the sea. It is assumed that he died due to cardiac arrest as he drank a lot of water.
Fishermen who were fishing near the seashore rushed for Kunder’s rescue. They reached Jaya Kunder in few minutes and brought him to the sea shore. But he had died by then.
Jaya Kunder was staying with his wife and daughter in Kallianpur. His wife is a fish seller and his daughter is a student of first PUC at Milagres College. The family is in dire straits due to his death.
Kundapur station circle inspector Manjappa, sub-inspector Nasir Hussain and staff rushed to the place and conducted investigations.
A county boat had capsized at Baikampady near Mangaluru two days ago and a fisherman had died. Another death today has devastated the fishermen community.
