Kasargod, Jul 30: Sudden and unexpected state-wide strike called by the BJP on Sunday July 30, condemning the murder of RSS activist Rajesh in Thiruvananthapuram, has caused much inconvenience to the public.
After a rally within the city in the morning, BJP workers forced the shopkeepers to close their shops. They also stopped vehicles on the road. As of now all the shops remain closed.
Many people are stranded in Kasargod as well as in surrounding towns as vehicles are not available to travel to any place.
Rajesh was killed in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday at around 9 pm.
Subsequently at around 11 pm, BJP called for a state-wide bandh. But many people did not know about the murder or the bandh till morning.
Some events like weddings were marred due to bandh. KSRTC stopped its services early. Even private buses which ran for some time were forced to stop their operations. Only a few vehicles were seen on the roads in remote villages.
Being a Sunday, students and government workers were spared the inconvenience of the bandh.
The bandh will end at 6 pm.
As per the latest news, 6 persons have been taken into custody by the police for the murder. One who helped them is reportedly absconding.
