Congress flies Gujarat MLAs to Bengaluru resort to prevent them from joining BJP

Bengaluru, Jul 29 (India Today): After 6 Congress MLAs left the party in Gujarat ahead of the crucial Rajya Sabha election, Congress flew several of its remaining MLAs outside the state to prevent, what they call, horse-trading.

"To ensure BJP is not successful, 44 of us Congress MLAs are leaving from Gujarat for Bengaluru," Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar had said.

"To hide their failure, BJP is trying to make sure our MLAs resign by offering money and through police pressure," he said.

In the end 4 MLAs stayed back in Gujarat, but 40 have landed in Bengaluru, in Karnataka. They will stay at Eagleton resort.

'Engineering Defections'

The Congress, which had 57 MLAs in the 182-member Assembly, has accused the BJP of using money, muscle and state power in Gujarat to engineer defections.

Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi warned MLAs of the "serious consequences" of anti-defection and anti-corruption laws that could bar them from contesting elections for up to six years and lead to imprisonment of up to seven years.

He recalled court judgements that termed defections a "constitutional sin" and unprincipled defections a "social evil".

"Crores of rupees have been spent in horse-trading in Gujarat by the BJP. You have seen this naked drama... The policy of the BJP in Gujarat is - by hook or by crook, come to power by breaking all laws," Singhvi said.

For the three Rajya Sabha seats of Gujarat, BJP has fielded Amit Shah and Smriti Irani while the Congress has, for the third seat in the state, once again backed Ahmed Patel, the political secretary of Sonia Gandhi.
The defections may have a bearing on the election for this seat.

Singhvi alleged Congress Gujarat MLA Punabhai Gamit was offered Rs 10 crore by the BJP. Singhvi also accused the BJP of adopting unlawful measures and, with the use of money and power, forcing the Congress MLAs to switch sides and quit the Assembly.

Gujarat 'operation kamala' is know blossoming in Karnataka resorts which kannadigas kicked in the last assembly elections.
In Uttarakhand, Satpal Maharaj, his wife Amrita Rawat, former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, former assembly speaker Yashpal Arya, former minister Harak Singh Rawat, Subodh Uniyal, Pranav Singh, Kedar Singh Rawat, Pradeep Batra and Rekha Arya were all Congress leaders before joining the BJP recently.
Maharaj, Yashpal, Harak, Uniyal and Rekha have each found a place each in Uttarakhand’s recently formed nine-member cabinet. They have all once been strong Congress leaders in the state.
In Uttar Pradesh, long-time Congress leaders Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Amarpal Tyagi, Dhirendra Singh, Ravi Kishan and several others recently joined the BJP. Many of them contested the assembly elections on BJP tickets and won. Bahuguna Joshi has also been appointed a cabinet member.
In Goa, former Congress MLAs Vijay Pai Khot, Pravin Jayante and Pandurang Madkaikar contested the 2017 assembly polls on BJP tickets.
A classic example of this tend is, of course, Arunachal Pradesh. In the 2014 assembly polls, 42 of 60 legislative assembly members in the state were Congress leaders. Today, 47 of the MLAs are BJP leaders, most of whom were previously Congress politicians.
In September 2016, Pema Khandu left Congress and joined the Peoples Party of Arunachal Pradesh, which he left in December to ultimately join the BJP. Khandu is currently the chief minister of the state. His father, Dorjee Khandu, was formerly a Congress leader and CM of Arunachal Pradesh.
In Assam, the situation is no different. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Pallab Lochan Das, Jayant Malla Baruah, Piyush Hazarika, Rajen Borthakur, Abu Taher Bepari, Binanda Kumar Saikia, Bolin Chetia, Pradan Baruah and Kripanath Malla are all former Congress leaders who have joined the BJP.
Like the old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, leaders from other political parties come to the BJP & are exchanged.

fast .As the person/ people grow up/exposed to society the mentality/
thinking/belief changes .So it is normal that they change their ideology
    and political thinking
Further about somebody's parents were in Congress doesn't mean their
children/siblings should also be in same party is it rational and against
Freedom of choice.take Bangarappa, Scindias, jarakholi, etc etc
I can also give lot of ppl name who were non Congress and now in Congress
This Gujarath "jatka" and Bihar "shock" has shaken all so called sickulars
All Indians should be ready for this type in politics till Law is not
changed to curb this type of game changer plans

There was a time when MLAs of few national political parties had some loyalty towards the party. Their behaviour to shift loyalty for spoils of power is shameful. It is disgraceful for elected representatives to shift campus for proving their loyalty. This cheap culture was started by the BJP under "Operation Kamala" spearheaded by Mr Yediyurappa. His end was pathetic thereafter. He had to run away from his party and form his own. When will our representatives learn???

First of all "Britishers" is WRONG. It's the British. OK? What's wrong with Urdu? Urdu is also an Indian language. In fact most of the so called Hindi movies were in fact Urdu movies. Why you guys want to decide what language the people speak and what food the people eat? Mr Siddaramaiah is only heeding the protests of the Kannada (majority) Activists who don't want Hindi to be imposed in Karnataka.
In Gujarat the majority of the people speak Gujarati. Similarly in Karnataka it is Kannada. As simple as that.
