Mangaluru, Jul 25: Renowned NRI Sayed Abdul Khader Bashu passed away on Tuesday, July 25.
He was 54. He breathed his last due to cardiac arrest in city.
He was a well known social worker and chairman of Green valley institutes in Shiroor. He was a champion of education.
Bashu was involved with a number of philanthropic activities like setting up of Deena schools for specially abled children, building of homes for families of children not having houses, renovation of dilapidated houses, and provision of facilities to specially abled children from all castes and religions etc. For conducting these activities, he had set up Syed Meeran Memorial Trust.
On Tuesday, schools, colleges, shops, and other establishments at Shiroor downed their shutters voluntarily as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
He has left behind wife, two sons, and three daughters. After the Isha Namaz, the funeral was conducted at Jamia Masjid at Kudroli, Mangaluru.
Bashu's daughter had got married recently in city. Cricketer Harbhajan Singh had graced the wedding function. A well wisher of Daijiworld for years, Bashu had visited the corporate office at Bondel on the same day with Harbhajan Singh.
