Mangaluru: Accident near Kumta snuffs out lives of three from city

Mangaluru, Jul 25: A car and bus collided with each other on national highway 66 at Tandrakuli at Divagi in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Monday July 24. In this accident, three lost their lives and several others suffered serious injuries.

Car driver, Prasanna Rao (44) from the city, as well as Nandini Shashidhar (56) and Shashwatha (3) from Suratkal succumbed to their injuries in the accident. Sachin Kumar, Sridhar, Soumya and Shashank suffered serious injuries.

It is said that over speeding on the part of the car gave rise to this accident. Prasanna and Nandini died on the spot while Shaswatha passed away at Manipal hospital.

The injured were provided preliminary treatment at the taluk hospital, Kumta, before taking them to Manipal. A case about this accident was filed in Kumta police station.

    Please buy cars with as many airbags as possible
    Wear your seat belts, all passengers not only driver
    Follow lane discipline and highway speed limits
    In roundabouts, give way for vehicles coming from your right
    When you join a main road from a feeder road, slow down or stop , see and go
    And lastly watch for COW!
