Mangaluru, Jul 25: Soujanya Hegde from here has made the city proud by reaching the finals of Haut Monde Mrs India Worldwide 2017 pageant. Hegde happens to be the only contestant from this region to have been chosen for this contest.
Soujanya will be taking part in the finals of the contest being held at New Delhi on August 5. Giving information at a press conference held here on Monday July 24, Soujanya said that she would be taking part in the supplementary training being held between July 27 and August 4 at Vietnam.
60 contestants will compete with each other at Vietnam for 15 different titles including 'Beauty with Heart' during their stay there. One of the titles happens to be 'Mrs Talent'. Soujanya said she is preparing to present herself as Goddess Devi during this one-minute presentation. Final round of this contest will be held at August 5 at New Delhi, she explained.
Soujanya happens to be the daughter of M Sadashiva Hegde and Nittadeguthu Sumathi Hegde from the city. Since she was young, she has been taking part in stage programmes including beauty competitions, dances, and Yakshagana performance. She studied Bharatnatyam as a disciple of the late Krishna Rao and his son, Vidwan Praveen, at Kadri Natyalaya. In addition, she also was trained in Yakshagana by the late Kumble Chandrashekhar. Soujanya also trained in filmi free style dance. She is backed by experience of having worked as a model. She had bagged 'Miss Coastal' title in 1999, 'Fantasy' in 2000, 'Jaycee Queen' in 2001, 'Karavali 2002', among others.
Soujanya also has acted in Kannada movie, 'Maya Jinke' and Tulu film, 'Bollilu'. Her husband, Sudheer Hegde, works for Pepsi Bottling Company at Nigeria.
Parents of Soujanya, Sadashiva Hegde and Sumathi Hegde, were present at the press conference.
