Udupi, Jul 25: Minister for Infrastructure, Urban Development, Information and Haj, R Roshan Baig on Monday, July 24, visited Sri Krishna Math to seek the blessings of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math. He held discussions with Pejawar Swamiji about Iftar Koota, peace and harmony.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, "I have great respect towards Pejawar Swamiji and would like to thank him on behalf of the entire Muslim community for organising Iftar Koota. It was done to develop harmony between Hindu and Muslim communities. I have requested Swamiji to offer prayers to God for peace and harmony in the coastal district."
"Clerics of our community should extend invitation for Deepavali like Pejawar Swamiji did for Eid. The criticisms and disputes are common in such issues. Prime ministers of various countries have taken part in such get-togethers. What is wrong in it? May the Almighty give good character to those who create controversy," he added.

Replying to a query on chief minister Siddaramaih’s attitude towards Ahinda communities is influenced by Congress state in-charge K C Venugopal, he said, "The chief minister was following the same Ahinda policy before coming to power. There is no influence from others."

Speaking on the occasion, Pejawar Swamiji said, "Everyone is expressing good thoughts about the Iftar Koota that was organised here. Even Roshan Baig expressed the same. But, there are some people who are giving communal colour to this. The get-together was organized to develop harmony between communities. People are now slowly realising the intention behind the get-together."

Pejawar Swamiji and Roshan Baig also expressed their deepest condolences on the sad demise of veteran Indian space scientist U R Rao.

    I still cherish my childhood days... those were really golden days... we used to wait to celebrate Deepaavali, Ganesha chaturthi, Eid, Christmas, without keeping any religious thoughts in mind!

    Hi Prem, Definitely agree with you. The God's best creation on the face of the earth is Human Beings. So, we don't believe in humanity, then how we believe in our God ? Humans gave shape, process, colours etc. to the 'Guidance' mentioned/written in our divine religious books eg. like Diwali, Eid, X'mas. In my opinion, we have to live humanity first, then our religious beliefs, then like you mentioned, we all can celebrate and enjoy all celebrations in harmony, be they religious or otherwise.

    I agree with Jossey's comment whosesoever festival it is they should invite at their respective places. Mostly people are busy on that day so it is best that communities get together or atleast leaders Siddha, Yeddy, Khader get together and eat together first the leaders should set the trend not the people below.

    Good We shal l live together Mulsims are our brothers. Let us shed hatred and live as one for the sake of our nation India shall remain as a secular nation I am sure India will see a new era of peace and calmness if we love our brothers be it muslims christians or any other religion Let us not divide us by narrow mindness of thinking India shall remain as one where all rleigiosn co exisist in peace I am sure as tiem goes by we shall shed hatred in our hearts I have many friends from mulsim community so also from christian community. They were of immense help to me in my hours of crisis, I love my India . Let not narrow mindness of politics divide us. I will this time invite at least 3 muslim families to my house for DIwali. I want to invite more but my financial status doesnt allow me to do so. Lets live together and let there be peace. I hate violence

    Hats off to you Kusuma, beautiful thoughts.
    I beg all my brothers and sisters to have these kind of inspirational thoughts to rebuild our society. A handful of people from both community (outsiders) use the local people to sow the seed of poison to disrupt the peace only for election purpose, outsiders sit in AC room and enjoy the fun. But we will not bow to their ideology.

    I fully ratify your comments .. It was really a good gesture from Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math , who invited Hindus for an Iftar Koota. And now it's turn to reciprocate Muslims brothers turn to reciprocate their love and respect towards Hindu brothers in order to build peace and harmony between for both communities.

    You are wrong and Jossey is right.
    Deepavali is our celebration and we should invite Muslims to be a part of it and enhance the joy. In case of Ifthar, it is a right gesture from our part to invite Muslims to break their fast at our place. We are not fasting, hence we can't expect Muslims to invite us for Ifthar. But Muslims of the region have lost a chance of reciprocating by not inviting us for Eid.

    we do invite but hindu friends but they dont come becuase they think we cook beef on that day instead we sacrifice beef on that day so that all of our friends come and join us..(80 % of muslim dont cook beef on that day because they invite most of the non muslims...we can have beef anytime but EID doesnt come anytime to invite others...)

    Hindus invited Muslims to the temple (Udupi) to celebrate Iftaar , Christians (Sharjah & Alain) invited Muslims to Church for Iftaar., Sikhs invited Muslims to Gurudhwara (Jebel Ali, Dubai) for Iftar, Great gesture from them towards Muslims brothers

    Now it is the turn of Muslims. We truly hope it will happen.

    Kind of your information Many Muslim Organization in UAE Like (Bearys Cultural Forum BCF, Bearys Welfare Forum BWF, KSSC, Dakshina Karnataka Sunni Centre Dubai (DKSC) Every year organizing "Mass Ifthar Ceremony" specially for Non Muslims community. They usually Invite Business Man like B.R Shetty, Praveen Shetty, Harish Sherigar, Shodhan Prasad, Sarvotham Shetty and other Christian community leaders.

    Peace and harmony is the main motive to encourage brotherhood family of indians.

    Do not criticize that "Its the turn of muslim" in ur line.
    Deepavali is not only Hindu festival its "Indians fest" we together celebrate to brighten our brotherhood strength.
